001: welcome
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV
I have always loved music but recently it has become a bigger part of my life. I'd like to think its because a lot of my friends are musical and it gave me the desire to try it again.
I say again because I have tried different instruments in the past but just didnt practice. Some of that couldve been a perfectionistic mindset. Some of it couldve been I didnt want to put in the work it took to be as good as I wanted to be. Whatever it was, I'm trying to change that.
God has been quietly revealing to me that I have a fear of being seen. Its a kind of rigidity that doesnt let you embrace the inevitable mistakes as a human. My hope for this series is to show YOU that the rigidity can be overcome.
My plan is to show you all of it. Learning the basics, songs I want to play, even singing while playing. I hope the musicians chime in with advice. Video seems like the easiest medium to do this so I will be embedding video into the post. If you have YouTube, subscribing to my channel will help you see the videos.
Now, I bet your question is, what does the name mean? A céilí in Irish (or cèilidh in Scottish Gaelic) is a social gathering. It usually involves a dance and folk music, a time to just enjoy each other. My hope is that you get inspired to try something you're scared to try. Purely to show yourself that you can do hard things. By the grace of God, I'm slowly learning this. Join me?
